Biting, hitting, and big feelings

Toddler teeth and toddler hands are not a moral failure. Here is how we answer them.

Before they have the words

Biting often shows up when language is still late to the party. We keep everyone safe, stay calm, and give the sentence: “Teeth are for food.” No yelling. No shame. No spanking. Ever.

If a pattern appears, you and I make a plan. The child is not “bad.” The child is overwhelmed and needs a smaller moment.

What we never do

We never punish a bathroom accident. We never use a chair of shame. A short reset beside me is enough. Kindness is a house rule, including for the adults.
